About

Mostly appreciated for her versatility, Charlene has been playing in many bands and ensembles of different style of music from folk to rock, trad from different countries (Irish, Scandinavian, Balkans, Americana...).
She started playing violin in Ireland in 2004 under Werner V Gladh's tuition.
Her Armenian roots led her to playing first Eastern European music. Then she went studying music in Sweden at Malung folkhögskola with Kalle Almlöf.
Back in Ireland she studied folk and Irish music. She
graduated in Music and Performance from the Access Music Project and Galway Community College with distinctions and from ABRSM in classical music and was an award nominee.
She also participated to different workshops such as Labyrinth, Etno Histeria, or the ones by Con tempo Quartet, lead by great musicians and mentors such as Bogdan Sofei, Giwrgos Papaioannou, Ross Daly, Matija Solce, Nano Stern, Johnny Soling...
Since that time she has been playing and recording different styles of music (folk and trad from many countries) all around Europe, touring in France, Sweden, Slovenia, Italy... Playing gigs and enjoying joining in session inspired her as well as many friends she met on the road.

She also composes music, creates and performs multidisciplinary shows mixing different form of arts (music, storytelling, acroyoga) and has been leading music and artistic workshops both for adult and children as well as teaching .

Quartet 1

Composed by Charlene

Performed by Con Tempo String Quartet

"On winter day, as I was feeling blue, I sat down at the piano. I was then longing for Sweden, my dear friends, and the nature when it all came to me. It was the first piece of music I ever wrote. Thanks to AMP, I had the honor and great pleasure to have it played by the wonderful Con Tempo Quartet."
